With the help of a Bosch auto parts supplier, Daimler launched a rowing system for cars in its multi-storey car park at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart.
Those visiting the museum can book a car by applying a dedicated smartphone, walking to the car park, and making the car lead itself to an area where they ascended at the beginning of the journey. When the user wants to return to the car, they simply leave it in the landing area and with the push of a button through the application, the Mercedes will find its way into the parking space.
The system is made possible by the advanced self-driving systems used by Mercedes-Benz as well as Bosch’s parking infrastructure, which includes sensors to connect with the vehicle.
Prior to entry into force in 2018, Mercedes will undertake a wide range of testing and commissioning, evaluated by appraisers of the Technical Inspectorate at TÜV Rheinland.
