We hear very much about the arrival of electric cars and the high proportion of their use gradually in various developed countries. But what you can keep in mind is that these cars are silent and do not produce any noise, because they work on batteries without the need for high-volume engines. All we can hear is the sound of rolling tires on the floor!
But Nissan had decided to save the situation by introducing the innovative Kanto audio technology at the recent Tokyo International Motor Show 2017, a surprise to everyone. Is one of the company’s latest technology in the Intelligent Mobility File, which is the voice of the future for Nissan’s electric-powered vehicles.
Here is the accountability! What is the purpose of putting artificial sound on cars that have been built silent? Is not it better to keep it silent in order to reduce public noise in crowded cities!
It seems to have something to do with the safety of pedestrians and passers-by. It is believed that people will not be aware of the arrival of a silent car without hearing it. But I still insist on my position: the sound of tire noise due to its adhesion to the ground will enable the infantry to see the arrival of the car. Future cars are also supposed to be robots that operate on state-of-the-art intelligent driving systems that can automatically adapt to surrounding conditions. Infantry protection will therefore be a priority. And I ask again: what is the main purpose of the idea of providing electric cars with artificial sound!
What is Kanto technology and how does it work?
The name Kanto is derived from Latin, meaning “I sing.” The sound varies in sharpness, tone, depending on the state of the car, whether accelerated or reduced speed or change the path. The audio technology starts at speeds of 20 to 30 km per hour, while speed is based on standard specifications for each market / area.
Nissan has developed Kanto technology as a priority for developing a voice alert mechanism in the first place. However, it has been considered that the technology enriches the audio environment on typical roads in the city, leaving a distinctive mark of Nissan. The volume will be heard clearly, without exceeding the limit, and will become troublesome for pedestrians, residents of homes or passengers.
Well, I’ll accept it, in the end I can not argue with Nissan what they are doing. The company has been a leader in automotive audio technology since 2010, with the introduction of the upcoming Infantry Alert System, truly innovative! In addition to its constant attempts to change the way electric cars are run and integrated with the community, by developing applications of sustainable mobility or known as intelligent mobility.
I trust Benisane, what do you think?
